Charitable Solicitation & Fundraising Regulation

Many states around the country continue to look at legislation regulating charitable fundraising activities. Hawaii passed legislation to make fixes to the state’s charitable platform registration law which passed last year, joining California as the only states to impose such registration requirements. A new Florida law prohibits the solicitation of contributions or anything of value from foreign sources of concern. The law will also create a first in the nation “honest services registry” where nonprofits attest to compliance with the new law.
