This session, 20 mortgage trigger lead bills have been introduced in 10 states, and six of those have been enacted in six states. The bills include provisions making the use of trigger leads an unfair or deceptive business practice if the solicitor doesn’t clearly and conspicuously disclose the use of a trigger lead and that they are not affiliated with the lender the consumer applied with.
