Lexie Murray

Policy Analyst

Lexie Murray joined FOCUS as a Policy Analyst in March 2022. After just three months in a part-time role, her acumen for analyst work was apparent and she was invited to take on a full-time position. She has since become an essential member of the analyst team, working both in strategic consulting and in tracking and reporting on legislative issues relating to education, communications and entertainment. Lexie is an eager and independent worker, with excellent communication skills and a strong attention to detail.

Lexie worked in many customer service and sales positions before having children and taking a break from the workforce. Prior to FOCUS, she worked as the Assistant Branch Manager of Operations for TCF Bank in Colorado, managing staff, delegating tasks, scheduling, auditing and doing document/data entry, and as a Key Holder for Conoco Gas Stations, assisting customers, managing shift staff and balancing cash drawers and inventory. Lexie studied for two years at the University of Vermont before transferring to and graduating from the University of Denver with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2008.  She has also lived abroad in Costa Rica for a year. Lexie is most proud of her work as an advocate for her three children, the eldest of whom have Dyslexia and Autism respectively, and for her youngest, who has a rare genetic disorder (around 100 known cases worldwide) causing developmental delay, seizure disorder and visual impairment.

Outside of work, Lexie is obsessed with creating things: she loves to bake (specifically with pizza and sourdough), craft (specifically crocheting) and growing plants. Lexie is also a service dog handler for her family’s service dog, Alistair Cookie. In addition to having great pet names, Lexie also holds the title to the FOCUS staff’s favorite celebrity encounter: her high school bird watching team was interviewed by Steve Carell on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
