According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, health care workers are five times more likely to face workplace violence than those in other industries. In 2025 alone, 10 states have enacted legislation aimed at protecting health care professionals and a dozen bills remain pending. While some states have enacted legislation to implement workplace violence prevention plans, others have gone further in increasing penalties for those who commit violence against health care workers.
